A DAY IN THE LIFE? Reporting into the Account Receivable Team Leader, the Banking Officer is responsible for supporting daily banking and cash reconciliation activities within a retail environment. This junior role assists with processing retail banking transactions, reconciling payments, and ensuring that funds received through retail channels are accurately recorded and allocated in financial systems. Key Responsibilities Include: - Process daily banking transactions received from retail locations, including cash, EFTPOS, credit card, and online payments.
- Reconcile retail sales against bank deposits and internal point-of-sale (POS) reports.
- Assist in the preparation and posting of daily bank journals in the accounting system.
- Support the Accounts Receivable team with the allocation of incoming payments.
- Investigate and resolve basic discrepancies between bank deposits and recorded sales.
- Maintain accurate records of banking documentation and supporting reports.
- Liaise with retail store teams to obtain required information for banking reconciliations.
- Assist with end-of-day and end-of-period banking processes.
- Follow internal controls, financial procedures, and company policies related to cash handling and banking.
- Provide general administrative support to the Accounts Receivable team as required.
About You To shine in this role, you will bring: - Basic understanding of accounting principles or financial processes (preferred but not essential).
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy when working with numbers.
- Good organisational and time management skills.
- Ability to identify and escalate discrepancies appropriately.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
- Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with internal teams.
- Experience in a retail, finance, or administrative environment is advantageous.
